I represented the student athletes making up OUWLRC to both our own Executive Committee and wider Oxford rowing and sport committees. I co-wrote a paper supporting the upgrade of Lightweight Rowing at Oxford to Full Blue status to match our heavyweight counterparts, which came into effect in February 2020. I was also heavily involved in the day to day running of the club, including organising training schedules with multiple support staff. This was a particularly challenging year for the club including a move of our varsity Boat Race from Henley to the Championship Tideway course in London, which presented many logistical issues that I helped to overcome. This required liasing with the coaching team and student athletes to arrange a training schedule around academic commitments, as well as keeping all equipment accounted for and maintained. Being co-captain required dividing the workload between two people in the optimal way, as well as flexibility to be available when needed, often at short notice. I represented student interests to the College on multiple committees, as well as liasing with the Oxford Student's Union and the Balliol graduate community. I represented student interests to the College on multiple committees, as well as liasing with the Oxford Student's Union and the Balliol graduate community. During my year as President, I was involved in coordinating the JCR's response to the University's first annual admissions report through a paper and open letter outlining the issues with equality and diversity highlighted in the report. This required practicality and management of different dynamics within the student body to produce a report and establish productive conversation with College officers. This culminated in the establishment of a committee to facilitate discussions between relevant student and College officers. I was elected to co-manage a student café with one other student, involving management of finances and filling shifts with student workers. The cafe served 3 meals 7 days a week, with an annual turnover of ~£70,000. Other responsibilities and achievements include:- Hiring 1 and coordinating 4 permanent staff, and 60 student staff- Organising and staffing two formal dinners serving 70 people
