Having moved from a PC I to a PC II in under one year, I have come to understand the complex datasets stored in our data warehouse. I have shown that I can query the data and generate meaningful reports for internal committees, non-profit organizations, and media inquiries. I've learned how to think critically about unfamiliar data given the reporting mandates under the 2018 Crime Bill. Finally, I've collaborated with colleagues in the Office of Grants Management as well as our Data Analytics Unit to write grants, audit and test datasets, and establish definitions and protocols.

Completed the Leadership Training (LT) program in order to lead Bowdoin Outing Club (BOC) trips for students. The LT program covered outdoor skills: operating camp stoves, trail etiquette, sea kayaking technique, and Leave No Trace principles; outdoor leadership and collaborative decision-making; trip planning logistics; emergency protocols and wilderness medicine (WFR certification).

Completed a seminar on teaching and evaluating writing in order to become a trained Writing Assistant. Engaged in collaborative learning with students on writing in any subject during walk-in conferences; suggested improvements on paper structure, thesis strength, and sentence sophistication. Guided eight students per semester with two essays each, through one-on-one interactive conferences.

Collaborated with other Bowdoin interns, faculty, and staff, as well as town employees and area land trusts on a regional trail project. Used GPS technology and ArcGIS software to create a trail and recreation guide for Bowdoin students. Organized existing GIS trail and open space data from the towns of Brunswick, Topsham, Bath, Freeport, and Harpswell, Maine. Extracted information about roads, trail difficulty, distance from Bowdoin College, and scenic views to inform a user-friendly document. Surveyed student cyclists to create a list of popular biking routes, and compiled safety tips for running, biking, and swimming. In the process of discussing online and paper distribution of brochure copies to students, particularly incoming first-years.
