About Lealand Richard
Lealand Eve Richard is an artist and art educator living in Bellport, New York. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Brooklyn's Pratt Institute in 2002, and pursued a successful career as a freelance commercial illustrator until 2010. Equally comfortable working in watercolor, collage and oil paint, she is best known for creating layered, whimsical pieces with a sense of magic. Her work has been published across numerous disciplines, and she has created illustrations for such varied clients as Hasbro Inc./ Wizards of the Coast, Hot Topic stores, and various clients in fashion, book and magazine publishing, among others.Between 2008 and 2010, Lealand owned and operated the gallery space and retail boutique Lealand Eve, in Sayville, NY with her husband, marketing manager and designer Nathan King.In August 2011, Lealand received her Master of Science in Education from Hofstra University, and acquired New York State certification to teach Visual Arts, Birth through Grade 12. She is currently employed by the Child Development Center of the Hamptons Charter School, where she is the sole visual arts teacher. She is responsible for planning and implementing all visual arts curriculum and lesson planning, and teaches students ranging from Pre-K through Grade 5.Art-making remains a vital part of Lealand's day-to-day life as she continues to create fine arts work in oils, watercolor and collage. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and non-traditional venues throughout the Long Island and New York City regions.
