Lacy Consulting Services is focused on using social science data, strategic planning processes, and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to help conservation and sustainability-minded organizations achieve their goal of improving the quality of life of communities and stakeholders by achieving nature-based goals. Our job is is to cut through the assumptions we make about communities and stakeholders by using social science to help you develop strategic plans that incorporate social data.The CEO, Leander Lacy, is classically trained in social science and has practical, qualitative social science experience. He is certified as a Conservation Coach through CCNET, and skilled as a facilitator in diversity, equity, and inclusion. He worked for the largest environmental non-profit in the world for almost 7 years and brings his world-class experience to work for you.

I am the Professor of Foundations and Applied Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Rowen University. The Capstone courses for graduate students of Applied Social Science. I teach the students the basics of qualitative social science and its application to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion research. I lecture (virtually and in-person) one class in the Summer term and then the students apply their learning in a final graduate project in Fall.

As the Alliance Director, I managed 50+ member organizations, businesses, and agencies that are made up of nonprofits, academics, entrepreneurs, and government stakeholders that are all committed to MetoDNA's desire to co-create a Regional Vision for People and Nature for the seven-county Metro Denver area. We are a resource for our members and we are letting science guide our approach.

• Worked with the Global Strategy Team on our core methodology (CbD 2.0), global priorities (Shared Conservation Agenda), and provided social science assistance to project teams implementing our strategies.• Designed and implemented a 30-person stakeholder analysis for the Peace Creek Watershed in central Florida.• Assisted with the global management review of ~50 key strategies that implemented our Shared Conservation Agenda• Reviewed key literature and provided expert advice to help in the creation of TNC’s People and Nature strategy for North America

• Led a global, voluntary, virtual group of early adopters of TNC’s newest science methodology called Conservation by Design 2.0 (CbD 2.0)• Kept 15 global employees accountable and energized for voluntary work to develop a website and create FAQs and practitioner's tips• Led meetings of 15-30 early adopters of CbD 2.0 every 2 weeks to address challenges and increase organization-wide adoption of this new methodology• Played a critical role in the development of CbD 2.0 website: conservationbydesign.org. Designed color scheme, input content, found photos, created site products, and delegated tasks as needed to ensure on-time deadlines.

• Led 12 TNC employees in the Multicultural Employee Resource Group (MERG) because of my proven leadership skills and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.• Conducted social science research on African Americans at TNC and presented those results to TNC’s North America Leadership Team.• Lead the process of creating satellite chapters throughout our global organization• Provides safe spaces for the Conservancy staff to voice their challenges of working at the Nature Conservancy as an underrepresented group• Mentored senior executives on diversity and inclusion topics• Juggled this voluntary position with my day-to-day job duties

• Developed and implemented the urban strategies for the New Jersey Chapter of TNC• Lead an internal team on urban strategies that consisted of our Conservation Director, Freshwater Director, and Marine Director• Managed internal resources such as GIS, Land Stewardship, and interns to help accomplish key urban conservation goals• Identified and prioritized key sites for using green infrastructure to manage storm-related flooding• Offered a seat to the Camden, NJ urban conservation council called Camden S.M.A.R.T where I provided scientific assistance and thought leadership to help get critical conservation policies passed• Implemented multiple small-scale green infrastructure projects such as rain gardens and water collection systems throughout New Jersey.
