The Global Engineering Dept., is the technical arm of Voltalia Group for all projects from the origination on a green field development phase, to the construction, on the EPC phase, for the 4 different technologies: Solar PV, Wind, Small Hydro and Biomass. Its main responsibility is to deliver the best technological solution, customized to each case, without disregarding the economical part of equation.- Define and manage the strategy of the Department, in close cooperation with the different internal costumers and Business Line Managers, and provide leadership and direction to the team leaders, engineers and designers within it;- Define and monitor of the annual budget and P&L, promoting the continuous improvement on processes, tools and behaviors;- Optimize communication and relationship with internal customers and other stakeholders, on the different Business Lines and Technologies (Photovoltaic, Wind, Hydro and Biomass);- Maintain close contact with the team members on status of their work and enforcing the engineers responsibility for tracking their progress and adherence to deliverables and plan;- Ensure adherence to engineering processes to provide high quality work that meets project expectations;- Develop action plans and coordinate resources to address and resolve problems as needed;- Responsibility for performance management, salary reviews, career development, succession planning and recruitment;- Promote the continuous improvement and valorization of all team members, through training plan and on site experience.

The Engineering Department is the technical arm of the company for all projects under Development, EPC, or in Operation (and Maintenance), providing the technical support colleagues from the several business areas need to perform their work. The Business Support Dept. is responsible to provide all the Technical & Commercial support to the Business Developers and Sales Managers of the company. The scope of this Dept. starts on the origination until the EPC contract signature, for all projects worldwide. Its main responsibility is to provide commercial offers with the best technological solution at a very competitive price. - Define and manage the strategy of the Department;- Define and manage the annual budget and P&L of the Department; - Continuous improvement on processes, tools and behaviors, of the Department and on its communication and relationship with customers and stakeholders;- Provide leadership, direction and motivation to the team;- Maintain close contact with staff on status of their work, enforcing the team responsibility for tracking their progress and adherence to deliverables and plan;- Ensure adherence to commercial processes to provide high quality work that meets sales expectations;- Develop action plans and coordinate resources to respond to all the sales requests in the most effective way;- Responsibility for performance management, salary reviews, career development, succession planning and recruitment;

The PV Modules factory fully automated and with an annual capacity of 50MW, produces state-of-art PV Modules, in a completely controlled process, under the higher standards of quality and traceability. This was the first fully automated line built in the world, in 2008. The factory team is composed by 5 independent departments: Production, Process and Product Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement & Purchasing and Quality. In a later stage it was built also an aluminum production line to cut, drill and prepare the aluminum frames of the PV modules, all under my responsibility.- Design and define the PV Plant layout and equipment;- Define and approve the PV Module BoM and related suppliers;- Test and certifications of the products;- Define and manage the Factory strategy, annual budget and P&L; - Responsibility on the Production plan and supply priorities;- Continuous improvement on processes, tools and behaviors;- Sponsoring of Lean Management processes implementation;- Continuous improvement on Factory performance rates, in terms of throughput, scrape and waste reduction, quality control, PV modules efficiency, raw materials selection and PV Module design.- Maintenance of the factory equipment;- Factory after sales support;- Technical Support on PV Modules to the Sales Department; - Provide leadership, direction and motivation to the team;- Maintain close contact with staff on status of their work, enforcing the team responsibility for tracking their adherence to the production plan and internal processes;- Responsibility for performance management, salary reviews, career development, succession planning and recruitment;

Martifer Aluminums, SA (mother company of Martifer Solar, SA) created a R&D Department to start developing the idea of entering in the Solar Business, using its facades as base for that study. The R&D was divided at that time in two, Solar Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal.- Responsible for the creation of the Photovoltaic Technical division of the R&D;- Study all the technologies available in the market and connecting them to the each type of project and requirements;- Visit to several Asian PV Modules Factories in order to understand the process and start getting a list of qualified suppliers of PV modules;- Preparation of the first PV Projects design and support to the Sales Department;- Creation of the Technical Department;- At the end of my stay in this Department I started the preparation of the PV Modules line construction, with all the procurement process for equipment and technical partners to build up and install the factory and utilities;
