Born and raised in Italy, he was exposed to the American college experience during an exchange program in California with AFS while in high school. Leandro then attended and graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with Highest Distinction. He joined Georgia Tech for his PhD studies, where he earned a M.S. after matching with Dr. Thomas Barker. He followed his PI at the University of Virginia to finish his thesis project and defended June 2021. His research focused on mechanical changes in the conformation of fibronectin that affect fibroblast phenotype and disease progression. Now working in in vitro pharmacology at Bristol Myers Squibb across all therapeutic modalities.
