Vuna Technologies is an Agri-tech startup that leverages software to optimize crop harvesting (mangos/avocados) and promote sustainable farming practices, addressing the ~30% post-harvest waste observed globally each year. We developed and implemented a microcredit program to provide essential farming equipment, aimed at alleviating poverty and empowering local economies by supporting self-employment and small business growth among Kenyan smallholder farming communities. This thesis project aims at optimizing the electrochemical reduction of CO2 into value-added chemicals. Conducted research under the supervision of Dr. Cao Thang Dinh on optimizing production of acetate via CO2 electrolyzer technology; presented findings to the department of chemical engineering. The bulk of the work included executing experimental trials with CO2 electrolyzer cell, analyzing empirical results through statistical analysis to adjust operating conditions to optimize production and investigating techno-economic feasibility of the system.

As a process engineering co-op, I primarily supported the process engineering team on the Building 100 project, a state-of-the-art vaccine manufacturing facility. My responsibilities were diverse, ranging from troubleshooting pharmaceutical-grade systems and conducting bacteria coverage testing to authoring Sanofi GxP engineering standard design guidelines for Temperature Control Units and Buffer Prep/Hold Tanks. A significant part of my role involved in spearheading the handover of approximately 300 vaccine production systems ranging from ultrafiltration machine to dilution tanks to chromatography skids, ensuring the verification of commissioning and qualification activities. This was aimed at completing project handover deliverables for live engineering runs, in collaboration with the C&Q, process engineering, automation, operations, maintenance, and document control teams.
