On July 1, 2016 Science Pioneers was thrilled to merge with Union Station Kansas City. This move fused two historic organizations that share a focus on STEM education--science, tech, engineering & math--creating a STEM powerhouse for this region. I became responsible for all STEM educational content, including Science City programming, educator professional development and outreach to schools, organizations and other community providers. Our programming currently reaches children from toddlers to high school students, teachers and out-of-school time educators, parents and caregivers. In addition, we host the Greater KC Science & Engineering Fair and other education-related special events at Union Station Kansas City. If you haven't been to Science City in a few years, I encourage you to come down and check it out - you'll have a great time no matter your age!

Chief Operating Officer, leading a national nonprofit providing access to orthodontic treatment for low-income children. Provided the staff leadership to grow and ultimately scale the program from local to nationwide, as well as build sustainability through program revenues. Most significant contributions include:* Developed and implemented comprehensive budgeting and financial management systemin collaboration with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.* Identified program model and funding weaknesses and worked to change those to facilitate national expansion. * Worked to increase business investment, develop corporate sponsorships and increase program revenues, which will ultimately fully fund the organization.* Effectively grew the organization from one staff to eight, a few dozen participatingorthodontists to nearly 600 and a few hundred children to nearly 2,000 children served.

Provided leadership to launch and operate a nonprofit helping people understand the power of the media. Responsible for the overall administration and day-to-day activities of the organization, including: fundraising, grant writing and reporting; marketing and communications; budgeting/financial management; planning; developing and implementing children’s, youth and adult programs within for schools and community groups; and representing MediaWise locally and nationally to inform and advocate for media literacy and violence prevention.
