I am currently attending Colorado Technical University to get my Associate of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. In 1992 I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Social work from UT Martin in Martin, Tn. I attended High school at Hillsboro Comprehensive High School in Nashville, Tn. From 1993 to 2012 I was employed by People First of Tennessee, Inc. which is a non-profit self-advocacy disability rights organization. My first position was a program coordinator and directed many programs until I became Executive Director. I held the position of Executive Director for 13 years. During my time there I was awarded a 2 year scholarship to start a youth community service project. I served as an advisor for the National Self Advocacy Organization. I made many public presentations. During my tenure at the organization we won a 20 year lawsuit against the state run institutions, siting violation of human rights. I gained valuable experience in event planning, fundraising and grant writing. I served as Executive for 13 years. While working on my associate degree I sell Avon, tutor, do community service at the local library, volunteer at the local hospital, serve on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit and serve as a conservator for several individuals with disabilities. The healthcare field has always interested me, so when I saw the opportunity to go back to school and get my Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration I couldn’t pass up the chance.
