When I first joined the NHS in 2004, I was a Medical Records Officer. Transferring hundreds of medical records to local surgeries and other health authorities daily, as well as other duties. I quickly moved on within the company to become a Patient Services Officer. I dealt more with the updating of patients information and registrations at GP surgeries and also putting through Optical claims for payments. I was the promoted to a Senior FHS Processing Officer. Within this role I still did the duties of a Patient Services Officer but I had more responsibilities, in terms of dealing with patients unfit for general practice, training up other employees, closing the quarter ends. As the NHS is always changing, as a Senior FHS Processing Officer I was given the role of training GP surgery staff across West Yorkshire on a software package called Open Exeter, I also had to give a presentation about it at a meeting before it rolled out through the surgeries. During my time at the NHS I also covered maternity leave in an IT role for 9 months. During this period I helped any staff with IT issues, dealt with issuing smartcards and smartcard issues. I took voluntary redundancy in January 2015 as the agency had been taken over by a private company.
