Supporting children 0-5 years with additional needs and their families on the beginning of their educational journey.

In my last full time position, I was Assistant Manager and Key Worker for a busy pre-school. I supported the manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery and worked closely with all the parents. I was responsible for 15 key children overseeing their learning, development, health and safety. Additionally I qualified as Lead Safeguarding Officer and have had experience in assessing additional needs and implementing strategies to assist with these needs with parents and Wokingham Borough Council, securing additional support.

I worked one to one with children from Foundation to Year 2, one of whom was profoundly deaf. In addition to supporting this child with his curricular activities and social skills, I designed and ran a small occupational therapy group with children of all ages and needs. I was involved in leading and teaching language skills to small groups of children of various ages in consultation with a Speech and Language therapist. Prior to this role I supported a child with Global Development Delay Syndrome. This role required time management skills, the ability to be flexible, think quickly on my feet and prioritise within a tight time schedule. I have also supported a child with Prader Willi Syndrome where I was responsible for planning and teaching literacy, phonics and maths in addition to supporting the development of his social skills, Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy needs.
