The Water Research Foundation is an internationally recognized leader in water research that is dedicated to advancing the science of water by sponsoring cutting-edge research and promoting collaboration. Supporting the Foundation’s mission by planning research and managing research projects pertaining to water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs). Current research efforts include integrated process management for drinking water and wastewater treatment operations, source separated organics pre-treatment for co-digestion, construction management/alternative project delivery methods, direct social marketing and consumer behavior, and community engagement for WRRFs.

Responsibilities included water and wastewater treatment project management (treatment operations and capital improvement projects), treatment process optimization, research coordinator for academic partnerships, reviewing work and supervising field engineers on facility projects, regulatory compliance, post-construction stormwater permit program manager, conducting water and wastewater treatment plant operator training, public education and outreach.Highlights: - Managed diverse water and wastewater treatment projects from inception to completion including, developing project scope, budget, request for proposals, contract documents, reviewing deliverables and providing comments to ensure projects remain on task and within budget, coordinating and managing project meetings, construction, and close out procedures. - Surveyed treatment operations staff and reviewed existing facility reports, studies, and planning documents to scope, prioritize, budget, and schedule treatment operations projects. - Evaluated City of Longmont’s stormwater program and Ordinance for MS4 Permit post construction stormwater compliance to identify areas of deficiency and create an implementation plan. Assembled an internal team, created project plan and objectives to implement necessary program modifications within three months. Developed education and outreach training programs for City staff, as well as owners and developers.

Responsibilities included water and wastewater treatment process design, hydraulic modeling and profiling, collection and distribution system design, development and delivery of construction contract documents, technical specifications, construction administration, field observations, cost estimating, state and federal funding procurement, local, state, and federal permitting, alternative analysis preparation, water conservation planning, internal coordination and delegation to design engineers, coordination with clients, contractors, regulatory agents, and sub-consultants. Highlights: - Project lead for five million dollar water treatment plant expansion and transmission line project. Successfully obtained funding for this project through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) State Revolving Loan Fund Application process. Conducted design work, managed sub-consultants, coordinated with District operators, and performed construction engineering services. - Served as project engineer on a municipal design project of fluidized bed reactors for biological treatment of nitrate in reverse osmosis concentrate. This effort consisted of evaluating the existing water supply and demand, developing water conservation goals, cost-benefit analysis of conservation programs and measures, authoring the final conservation plan, and successfully presenting the results to the District Board of Directors for adoption. - Coordinated with owners, project managers, sub-consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to satisfy project schedules and budgets.
