About Leanne Kannapell

I develop the capacity of educators to support best practices in teaching and learning, and lead programs that produce inclusive and dynamic learning experiences for all students. Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to creating inclusive learning environments and influencing adult mindsets around education. I did this first as a Special Educator, then a district-wide Special Education Administrator, before spending two decades in school leadership. I have led in one of the largest public-school districts in the nation, Fairfax County Public Schools, where I served as a school administrator before transitioning into the role of Associate Head of School at Connelly School of the Holy Child. At Holy Child, I’ve led the school’s day-to-day operations and been the chief articulator of the school’s programs and academic success. In all of the school communities where I’ve had the privilege to lead, my work has yielded substantial cultural change through school improvement efforts. With an in-depth understanding of best practices in teaching and learning, I have marshalled resources to train large teams of teachers in project-based learning. By coordinating the implementation of vertically articulated, interdisciplinary portfolio learning programs that culminate in presentations of learning and Capstone projects for all students, I have fostered an environment where teachers and students participate in innovative learning experiences and where emerging leaders are cultivated and rewarded. I continue to be most energized by my work directly coaching and supporting educators to create dynamic learning environments for all.
