I am an experienced compassionate Registered Social Worker; personal qualities of empathy, understanding and patience. Passionate about healthcare, knowledge translation, policy, equity and continuing education. Throughout my career, I've striven to improve the care of older adults with compassion and empathy. Advocated on behalf of and alongside with clients' to achieve their personal and healthcare goals through heart-based community work. I provide counseling around community resources; adept at problem-solving; bringing enthusiasm and expertise into all aspects of service delivery. My clinical interests are in mental health to ensure care is delivered using a health equity lens to underserved populations. I work collaboratively with healthcare providers, hospitals, service delivery organizations, government agencies and communities to ensure the health care needs are met compassionately. Respect for every individual; accountability, value, continuous improvement and learning are the four pillars. A deep and ongoing commitment to this framework and its principles are key to creating a health care circle that is free of judgement, equitable, safe, and inclusive. I began my career at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, with the Aboriginal Circle of Life Services as a Reassurance Worker. In Addition, worked at House of Compassion, Mental Health Worker and Fife House Foundation, Residential Support Worker.I was employed as a Social Worker with The Neighbourhood Group for 10+ years as a Community Social Worker then promoted to Intensive Case Manager. Education as a life long learner led me on the path to improve my skill set through higher education at Toronto Metropolitan Univeristy - Social Work program and completed a practica at the Toronto Birth Centre that earned me a Bachelor of Social Work. My BSW undergraduate was accomplished through dedication, resilience, and hard work while working full-time at The Neighbourhood Group.Currently employed as a Crisis Specialist on the COSS team with WoodGreen Community Services, social workers provide crisis counselling, short-term intensive case management, biopsychoscoial, clinical, and risk assessments. COSS staff is mentored by an incredible manager, the COSS manager motivates and supports the team to grow professionally. This creates a positive work environment that fosters open and honest communication. I look forward to working alongside my WoodGreen Family for a long-time into the future.
