With 13 years of active duty service in the US Navy, I have a broad range of accomplishments. As a seasoned leader, I have mentored and managed a team of 22 individuals, guiding them through multiple regulatory inspections with limited deficiencies noted. I have performed duties as the laboratory safety lead and hazardous materials manager, including maintaining and auditing a list of 600 chemicals authorized for use within the workspace and their respective SDS's. Additionally, I have experience with workload management, customer service relations, personnel evaluation writing, and internal variance and regulatory training tracking for staff members. My professional expertise is in laboratory medicine, a field for which I have a national certification and 12 years of experience. I have authored more than 200 standard operating procedures and have reviewed more than triple that number in my career. Technical writing is one of my favorite aspects of the job from an administrative perspective, but hematology is my preferred testing bench. Aside from my experience as a medical laboratory technician and work center supervisor, I have extensive experience coordinating events both within the work facility and outside of it. I have organized holiday parties for over 450 staff members and coordinated several annual staff appreciation events to include a week of activities for Laboratory Professionals Week. In addition to my work prowess, I have a passion for creative writing. I have written more than a dozen short stories and am working on a novel that I hope to eventually publish. In my spare time, I enjoy artistic crafting, particularly with resin and wood, and educating my three children on the wonders of the world.
