With almost 30 years of experience, Leanne Nyirfa is one of Saskatchewan's leading independent communications consultants. A highly skilled communicator and issues manager, Leanne consults with business and organization leaders to find solutions to their communication challenges. Her expertise includes the development and management of high-level, multi-faceted communication campaigns, media and public relations, event and news conference management, and crisis communications. In addition to her duties as Communications Consultant to the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners, Leanne is a Regional Media Advisor/Spokesperson for Elections Canada. Other current clients include QBOW Child & Family Services Inc., the City of Martensville, and Saskatchewan First Nations Family & Community Institute to name a few. Leanne is a past director of the International Executive Board of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and the Saskatoon Chapter of IABC, and received her professional communications accreditation designation in 2007. Leanne has also received business and recognition awards from the Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan and the City of Saskatoon. She has given back to her community by mentoring young women through the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan, and serving two terms on the Meewasin Valley Authority Board of Directors, an appointment by the Province of Saskatchewan. Leanne joined the communications profession in 1994, after completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics at the University of Saskatchewan, and a Diploma in Public Relations at Mount Royal College (University) in Calgary. From there, she accepted a communications position at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Ottawa and grew to work in more senior roles within various federal departments including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Health Canada and Industry Canada. In 2001 Leanne was recruited back home by the Saskatoon Health Region, where she worked as a senior communications and media relations advisor for 6 years before starting her consulting practice in 2007.
