Assistant Director UK Technical Service Ship Standards.

Working across Technical Services - Standards Branch on the development of regulations and guidance to the UK maritime industry. Areas covered include environmental legislation (MARPOL and stand alone Conventions), SOLAS, dangerous goods, domestic offshore craft, fishing vessels and marine equipment.Currently Chair of the Ballast Water Review Group at the International Maritime Organisation.

UK Policy Lead on the development and implementation of the International Ballast Water Management Convention. Including working with legal and economic teams in order to write and introduce national legislation, formulation of impact assessments, advisinig UK survey and inspection on the implmentation of the Convention and representing the UK as the UK regulatory expert on the subject at within national and international forums such as the IMO and EMSA. Invited to Chair the Ballast Water Review Group at the IMO (2018 - date)

Support to Policy Leads to develop impact assessment, regulations and guidance documents. Areas covered included MARPOL (all annexes) and dangerous goods.This period includes a one year maternity break (2008-2009)

Covering ISO 9001, 14001, International Safety Management (ISM), International Labour Convention (MLC) and Maritime Security assessment for both internal and external customers, including shipboard and land based operations.This period includes a one year maternity break (2005-2006)

Support to the UK Counter Pollution Team, including review of SOPEPs, administration of UK counter pollution stockpiles, incident data gathering and analysis and incident response.
