Working on water policy in terms of agriculture and integrating water and agricultural policies.

My PhD project is a collaboration with the department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Reading and Teagasc, Johnstown Castle under the supervision of Dr. David Wall, Dr. Karl Richards, Dr. Gary Lanigan, (Teagasc) Dr. Liz Shaw and Prof. Mike Gooding (University of Reading).My project is assessing different nitrogen fertiliser formulations on spring barley at two sites in the south east of Ireland. There are many aspects to the project including nitrous oxide emissions, ammonia emissions, nitrate leaching and yield and nitrogen uptake. The fertilisers being assessed are CAN, Urea, Urea with the urease inhibitor n-BTPT and urea with the nitrificaiton inhibitor DCD and Urea with both of these inhibitors.
