Position SummaryThe Production Information Systems Manager plays a key role in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance, Information Management, Editorial and Professional Writing strategies that support the core business direction of Informit and RMIT Training. The position involves utilising specialist knowledge and expertise in the areas of Quality Assurance, Information Management, Editing and Professional Technical Writing for business growth and for developing state-of-the art and innovative ways of providing Informit products, services and processes. The Production Information Systems Manager plays a major role in the ongoing upgrading and development of a specialist publishing management system to manage databases, full content and user documentation. This work involves content management and assisting with database design for complex aggregated information; assisting in the development of the web-based search retrieval system; and, establishing appropriate and relevant online user documentation.The Production Information Systems Manager manages and leads the Informit Production Information Systems team.

The Information Manager role at APO involves working with a small team of internal and external content creators and developers to manage and improve APO’s current metadata and schemas, classification systems, identifiers, interoperability and the information architecture and develop new elements.The role involves database management, metadata creation and standards, user needs, information architecture and the planning and implementation of new projects and strategic direction.The Information Manager implements best practice strategies in the areas of policy information access and use, information management, open access and linked data, digital libraries, project management and strategic planning on dynamic, user-focussed projects.

Main areas of responsibility:• Provision of user manuals, brochures and other documentation for all Informit products• Quality assurance for bibliographic CD-Roms• Quality assurance for full text publications in both CD-Rom and other electronic formats• Provision of a range of marketing activities

• Research assistant and co-editor on Department publications.

• Responsible for all tasks involved with the running of this special library for engineers, which supported the staff and work of engineering consultants, 'Ove Arup & Partners'.
