Embedded in the agile front-end software engineer team, my responsibilities included the development and maintenance of the 25+ brands under the control of the JD Group, including JD Sports, Tessuti, Scott’s, Size, and Footpatrol. My responsibilities also included:• Worked as part of the expansion team; responsible for building new features, fixing bugs and improving code quality within the framework. • Bridged the gap between the UX team and the software team utilising knowledge of both UX design and accessibility best practices alongside the practicalities of software development. • Developed a WordPress framework for JD Blogs. • Worked with a TypeScript analytics application which involved the integration of metrics tags within all websites.

Working towards the digital transformation of services across the Welsh Local Government, my responsibilities as a WordPress engineer were to maintain the Welsh Local Government Association Digital Team’s website for both English and Welsh Translations. Other responsibilities included:• The redevelopment of the Welsh Local Government Association website by creating a new WordPress framework which improved page load speed, accessibility and usability.• Working across multi-disciplinary teams to communicate best practices within digital transformation.• Training staff to effectively use and maintain content on the new site.

Responsible for the maintenance, bug fixing, and developing new features for all of Halewood’s Brands including Whitley Neill Gin, Dead Man’s Fingers, JJ Whitley and Crabbies. Other responsibilities and achievements included:• The development of a new WordPress Theme, Plugin and Framework which could manage the maintenance and improvement of all the sites. • Migrated the websites to a new server without any loss of data; improved the speeds and security of all the websites and liaised with the marketing team to improve search engine optimisation on several of their brands.• Saved the company over £250, 000 within 6 months by creating custom plugins and removing the need for subscriptions, sourcing and migrating to a new hosting provider.

After leaving University I decided to take a rare opportunity to work alongside a business incubation unit to develop and grow my own company. I started out with absolutely no experience in running a business and left with a river of transferrable skills which have stood me in good stead within the world as an employee. • Over my time being self-employed I worked with many organisations including UCLan, Preston College, Blackburn College, Ashton Allied Taxis, The ELCM, PANDA and Nordic Walking UK.• Developed a youth development program alongside Blackburn and Preston college to provide work experience for students.• Developed a skills trade program which included teaching IT skills in exchange for other business skills such as sales/ marketing and even a haircut.• Developed a program which allowed retirees to learn technical skills and network with the business world.
