I am committed to improving health outcomes for people who are disadvantaged by place, circumstance and capacity. While I started my career as a social worker I soon learnt that I could have greater impact if I also worked to improve the systems of support. People with poor health are often the customer of of a range of government and social services - my aim is wherever possible to join up services to better support people rather than treat them as a disease or as homeless, or disadvantaged. Its this purpose that has been foundational throughout my careerSo what does it take to breakdown the silos? Collective impact is a model to help join up systems and services. However while policy and funding silos can inhibit progress there are emergent opportunities.WA Primary Health Alliance can play its part - taking a systems approach to outcomes for people with co-occurring chronic health needs and fewer personal assets to navigate/access care. And where possible bring together funding streams by which to purchase integrated services. I believe for WAPHA to be successful it is critical to build a focus on collective achievement within the organization and externally with key stakeholders. Partnership and engagement are vital. No one organisation can address the wicked problems of mental health, suicide and obesity to name a few, on their own. It will only be through collective action that we can make an impact. I am passionate, authentic and ethical. I hold an Ass/Adj Professor of Health Science, a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management and Honours Degree in Social Work. I am also a recipient of various industry nominals. When I am not at work I look after my own health and wellbeing by building up kilometres on the bike!
