I graduated in May 2024 from Miami University in Oxford, OH with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a minor in Urban Design.I believe that the root of design is perception, seeing through the lens of others’ experiences to understand a design’s impact on their lives and communities. The more we experience things firsthand, the more we understand how to adapt our designs to the world around us. By experimenting with our creativity and imagination, we can define the meaning of “place” and create a lasting mark on people and their environments. I spent my summer and fall of 2022 studying abroad in London and Luxembourg and my desire for discovery and exploration led me to visit 13 different countries in Europe and the UK. I witnessed the importance of “the experience” in architecture, through landmarks and contemporary design, in creating a meaningful environment for people. The different perspectives of architecture and conceptualization through my work with European professors and architects enriched my designs and thought processes. I learned the value of an environmentally conscious attitude and was mesmerized by the focus of these cities on people through their city parks, easily accessible public transportation, and walkability. I am excited to bring my newfound knowledge of these ideas to the professional field.During my time abroad, I improved my skills not only in modeling software like Revit but also the Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop and Illustrator, by creating collages to encapsulate my time in Europe. This strengthened my passion for the communication of experiences and ideas through digital art. Outside of my major, I spend my time expressing myself through art in the forms of digital and freehand sketching, painting, collaging, crocheting, and photography. I am constantly picking up new projects and always eager to challenge myself and try new art forms.
