Lebo is a Director at City of Joburg Metro Council, where she leads the mainstreaming of climate change and air quality management city wide. She has over 20 years of work experience in environmental sustainability, working at all levels of government and has also worked briefly as an environmental consultant. She holds an MSc in Botany from the University of Fort Hare.Lebo's core competencies include championing environmental sustainability holistically, stakeholder engagement, and project management. She’s currently the custodian of the climate action plan and the air quality management plan for the city of Johannesburg. Her responsibilities are that of an air quality officer which includes amongst other issuing atmospheric emissions licences and permits to industry. She’s also the focal point for c40 cities, including the overseeing the cooperation agreement between City of Joburg and City of Copenhagen supported by the Danish Embassy. Based on her knowledge, Lebo has recently also been requested by city treasury to advice on environmental sustainability requirements by development finance institutions performing ESG requirements from the City of Joburg. Lebo is passionate about advancing environmental justice and sustainable development in her city and beyond.
