Over this period I worked on various contracts for TUI Travel PLC. I was a contractor working in a number of roles in the business most notably as a source of financial expertise on various finance projects including the implementation of SAP Accounting system, a new stock taking system and a project to get the business fit for the implementation of IFRS 16. Although this was not continuous employment, I was approached on a number of occasions by TUI to return to the business due to my self-motivation and diligent attitude and strong desire to succeed at whatever project I was required to work on.

As Assistant Financial Controller I assisted with the running of the finance department, partnered with the business and ensured all internal and external deadlines and requirements were met. I ran teams to help manage the integration of a number of acquisitions of various sizes into the business and was responsible for the UK businesses integration into a SOX reporting environment. My ability to work well with people with very different requirements and needs enabled me to excel at ensuring deadlines were adhered to and project goals met.

As a Product Risk Controller, I managed various profit centers with very different investment objectives. Working closely with the traders I helped them understand and manage their risk across emerging markets in particular South Africa, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. This was a new industry to me and one that I enjoyed getting to understand. Often my work required me to be self-motivated and diligent, going above and beyond the obvious requirements of the role.

As a Senior Account Executive, I worked on a number of captives in various areas of the insurance industry including catastrophe, life, marine, aviation, medical malpractice and workers compensation. I also provided consulting services for a Class 3 Bermudian reinsurer writing a diverse collateralised portfolio. This opportunity allowed me to live abroad for three years and learn about all aspects of running the business as I was the main contact for all day to day business decisions for my clients, who were often located elsewhere.

As an Assistant Manager within the Audit Function, I managed clients in the media and marketing industry as well as a broad spread of other interests. My clients included Chrysalis Group PLC, Incepta Group PLC, a large offshore construction company and a corporate dental company. This variety of clients gave me excellent experience working as part of large audit teams and running smaller audit teams. The experience I gained gave me a great opportunity to learn about a large range of industries but also to meet and work with a diverse range of people very early in my career.
