Though I studied forensic chemistry, I made the choice to sit on the internet for a living following a rather interesting year in 2010. While recovering from Guillain-Barre syndrome, I realised that my original science-y career goals may not have been within reach anymore so I've turned to my other passions - motorsports and video games. I'm currently doing a mixture of freelance and non-freelance work in both industries and scribbling some articles on my own sites from time to time. But I'm always open to new opportunities! If you’re interested in getting a coffee (my treat!), talking about motorsports or even just admiring the British sunshine, send me an email or find me on Twitter.

Education & Community ManagerScirra Ltd Jun 2016 - PresentLondon, United KingdomScirra Ltd is the company behind the web-based 2D game engine Construct 3 and my role with them sees me wearing a few different hats.Part of my role involves looking after the social media channels across Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, as well as engaging with the community via our in-house forums. Writing features for our official blog is also an ongoing task as we try to highlight some of the excellent games and developers using our engine. Recently, due to an increased amount of work in the education sector, we’ve begun experimenting with an education-focused Twitter account.Talking of the education sector, that covers another area of my role. As we’re expanding our reach into the United States, EdTech trade shows have become an important factor in our work. It’s my job to organise these events not only in terms of logistics but also planning and presenting workshops and demonstrations of the engine. It’s a great opportunity to meet new teachers and talk to those already using Construct in their classrooms.Elsewhere in our education work, I do a lot of events with our partners at Digital Schoolhouse from presenting beginner game design workshops to young people to supporting the DSH team during their annual esports tournament. When I have the time, I will put together new resources for both our indie and education communities including video and written tutorials, streamed game development content and more recently, a full ebook to help people get started with the engine.

Media CoordinatorBute Motorsport Jan 2019 - PresentBute Motorsport runs the successful UK sportscar championship GT Cup. Working with them as their media coordinator it’s my job to help organise their media strategy for both live race weekends and off-track time between events.During a race weekend, I work with two fellow social media managers to ensure we have continued live coverage going out across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Our photography team reports directly to me over these events, and we work together to ensure that the championship, our teams, manufacturers and sponsors have the content they need. I’m also the main contact point for our television team who produces our live broadcasts on Facebook and YouTube.Between events, I help keep fans up to date with the current happenings in the championships including championship leaders and new signings for teams, plus writing preview content for our news page and the digital programmes for attendees produced by the race circuits. During the off-season, I liaise with the Championship Director to ensure that we produce an announcement schedule for the next season that not only suits our timetable but also that of our teams and their sponsors. As we’re a small team, my spreadsheet skills are put to good use elsewhere as I manage the championship’s points standings. -
Content CreatorPersonal Content Creation Mar 2020 - PresentWhat started as a hobby, became a good way to develop new skills and produce some additional income. Streaming has always been something I’ve wanted to try but being hampered by a terrible internet connection has made it quite the challenge. However, as of 2020 I’ve been able to produce my own content for Twitch and use YouTube to store past VODs which has taught me both live production skills and editing skills using DaVinci Resolve.Although my live streaming is currently on hiatus following some life changes, I’m now investigating ways to use YouTube and Shorts to create content around my new crafting adventures!
