I am an operations and engineering lead who works with early stage startups to build and grow their company in the early to middle stages of their development. I also work as an independent consultant for technology companies who require experienced and flexible operations and project, R&D, operations or engineering management. My focus is on startups or new product development, especially those which are multi-disciplinary, early stage or have a high degree of ambiguity. I currently work as Director of operations for Varadis.I have over 25 years industry experience, having held various senior design, operations and management roles through multiple growth phases of semiconductor, IVD and Technology start-ups, previously being Engineering Director with Ceva, Radisens Diagnostics and COO of Tracknstop. I graduated from Cork Institute of Technology in 1991 with a B.Eng. in electronic engineering and a M.Eng.Sc. in Microelectronics from the Tyndall National Institute, Cork in 1993.I originally worked as a research engineer in the bio-electronics field developing highly sensitive heavy-metal-in-water detection systems, which was presented as "A CMOS chip-set for detecting 10 ppb concentrations of heavy metals" at the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference in March 1995. He then joined Parthus Technologies (then known as SSL) from startup in 1995, progressing through various senior design and project management roles, delivering numerous complex multi-site multinational contracts. Upon Parthus completing a successful IPO in 2000, I became engineering manager for the European wireline and storage group, and upon merging with Ceva in 2002, to create Ceva, I became Engineering Director for Ceva’s worldwide wireline and storage operations, before joining Radisens in February 2009.I was then Engineering and operations director with Radisens Diagnostics. He led a diverse group of microfluidic, opto-electrical, mechanical and electronic engineers with a team of life scientists and bio-chemists developing the next generation of Point-of-Care (PoC) medical diagnostics systems.I also worked as COO of the Irish company TracknStop, developing their vehicle tracking and security technology.I am the holder of 2 US patents
