I have nearly two decades of experience in all corners of software performance. I have expertise in profiling techniques from fine-grained hardware profiling up to aggregate distributed query analysis; I have experience in performance tooling from kernel modules up to web-based analysis tools; I'm equally at home with cost/capacity analysis and with latency analysis.In recent years, my focus has mostly been on developing performance analysis tooling that makes sense of incredibly complex and contextual trace data. Inside Google, I've developed a number of tools that have been widely used, across the company, to win significant latency savings.While I'd love to use this expertise in a new opportunity, I'm equally interested in many other technical subjects. I love Golang, and would love any opportunity to use it more. I'm very passionate about good software design, and believe that judicious decisions early on can avoid enormous costs later. I'm also very interested in making data accessible: profiling data is often far richer than the tools used to understand it can support, and that's a shame.
