I had direct oversight and supervisory responsibility of several areas that are central to the College’s undergraduate programs and support of undergraduate students and their success. These are: Academic Advising, the Center for Student Resources and Academic Support, the Honors Program, Scholars’ Mentorship Program, the Teaching and Learning Center, and Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity. I chaired the Academic Advising Council, served as the liaison to the Applied Learning Committee, and oversaw searches for new directors of the Scholars' Mentorship Program, the Teaching and Learning Center, and the CSRAS. I worked closely with the chair of the Black Studies Department to build the department's faculty.I participated in regular meetings of the Academic Deans and the Administrative Council, and collaborated with staff in the Office of the Provost to ensure successful completion of the regular work of Academic Affairs. I provided counsel to and support for the Provost on academic matters, including the Academic Affairs budget; faculty hiring and other personnel matters including reappointment, promotion, and tenure; curriculum development; and interaction with the leadership of other divisions.
