    After working for others I decided with the backing of my family to set up and run Callender Recruitment which lets me deal with all aspects of running a recruitment business. Initially I had to look after all aspects of the business and as time went on the number of staff grew which has let me look into more sales and development areas. In the first year I achieved a turnover of £190 000 and that was from a standing start (no clients were taken from old agencies), grew my consultants to 3 up to the first half of the second year, our highest amount of temps out was 96 on a margin of £1.30. we also still have the contract for Newcastle racecourse and 5 councils. As the recession hit we have found it harder to break even thus it is being wound down. In the 1st year I turned over £180,000 from a standing start and I am winding up Callender Recruitment as the recession has hit the construction industry very hard and for personal reasons.
