Responsible for the planning, implementation, delivery, self assessment and action planning for engineering and automotive courses at Darlington College.

Assisting the head of engineering in planning and tracking all engineering courses, from L2 diplomas to HND courses.

Within this role I was responsible for planning, timetabling, coordination and management of L1 & L2 courses in engineering. I taught across a range of programmes from level 1 to HND and have performed quality assurance activities through my positions as Lead IV and Centre Coordinator. Within recent years I have received an award for Outstanding Achievement for work undertaken as Centre Coordinator for Engineering. I also gained valuable management experience in deputising for the new Assistant Director prior to his appointment.

Within the role of materials expediter I was responsible for material scheduling, inventory control, supplier liaison and coordination, acquisition of concession materials and ensuring all production demands were fully accommodated on a day to day basis.I worked extensively with SAP inventory management systems and was part of the team who developed and integrated the system into the plant at Spennymoor, providing training to colleagues and end users. The role also required very close liaison with the production planning team, and such such I gained valuable experience of production planning methods and systems which were effectively coordinated around material acquisition lead times.

Within the role of R&D I coordinated projects for the reduction of torque in drill chucks, new material trials for mechanical and electrical components in professional product (Dewalt). I was required to undertake trail production runs and carry out industrially relevant testing, reporting FMEA and other results to the R&D manager on a weekly basis.

As part of my initial apprenticeship period I was placed in an operator role in the engineering test labs. This role involved product life cycle testing initially and grew into a role where i was required to develop and maintain testing rigs / equipment, report on and analyse test results, produce technical test data and instruction documentation for operator use. I learned key engineering skills including how to work safety, how to communicate technical information and identify appropriate engineering equipment. I developed excellent hand skills in both electrical and mechanical competences.
