Conducted research in a variety of fiber optics technologies, including Fourier Optics, imaging optics for night vision systems, infrared optical materials and fiber optics for remote spectroscopy, electron multiplier devices including imaging intensifiers and X-Ray optics. As a personal avocation, I conducted basic research in polishing in collaboration several research groups world-wide. I conducted collaborative R&D with a variety of companies and national labs. These resulted in several patents and two R&D 100 awards. These were for Fractal Fiberoptics (one of the first engineered fractal macromaterials) and Low Noise Microchannel Plates (in collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysics Observatory).
