I am a Director of The Construction and Design Centre of Excellence, whilst fulfilling the roles of Tutor and Assessor for the apprentices. Under each of these roles I undertake the following activities.Director: Focused on the development of the training side of the business to ensure that the key benefits are delivered and communicated ongoing for sustainable business development and growth, including development of strategic alliances. Tutor: Teach apprentices Digital design & draughting in an Engineering Construction principle. Through this I guide students through their journey from knowing nothing or very little, to understanding key principles as well as being able to create CAD drawings for Structural, Architectural and Modular/LSF elements. The technology used is part of this process where I teache apprentices to become competent in the use of 2D AutoCAD as well as Tekla (3D drawing package), in-line with an overview of BIM principles. Assessor: Focused on assessing learners competency through their apprenticeship program being undertaken with the business.

TDS Midlands is a design office specifically working in the structural steel, architectural metalwork and secondary steelwork industries. It is a contract design office, and as a result, Lee works on a variety of CAD related projects for numerous clients. He utilises AutoCAD to produce drawings to the clients specifications, and liaises with engineers for structural validity of the design.Lee has worked on some of the most prestigious contracts in TDS Midlands history, and has gained a wealth of skills, knowledge, expertise and understanding of the structural steel, architectural metalwork and secondary steelwork industries. He is known within the industry as an expert within the architectural metalwork industry, and has recently undertaken a contract for a major UK fabricator for a project based at Terminal 2 at Heathrow. This project was to design and detail all the architectural metalwork in the terminal, including; hand rails, glazed screens; trolley rails; stairs; and door posts. This was not only an extremely technical architectural project, it also involved numerous partners that were reliant upon TDS Midlands expertise and knowledge to enable the project to be delivered on schedule and on budget. TDS Midlands is a contract office for a variety of fabricators serving an array of construction businesses. Therefore, Lee’s skills are not one dimensional. Over the past decade TDS Midlands has been involved in various work experience programs in conjunction with the Borough of Telford & Wrekin. In recent times, Lee has been pivotal in the success of the program, and has exposed our industry to numerous students. Not only has he designed the course, but he has liaised with local schools and colleges to organise and facilitate this program.

Paramount Steel Fence is the UK leading manufacturer of Palisade and Mesh perimeter fencing complimented by a range of automatic & manual security gates. Paramount Steel have a purpose built manufacturing facility in Stoke-On-Trent produces a range of security fencing suitable for industrial, commercial and decorative applications. Lee again worked in the computer aided design office, and was responsible for designing the entire product range. Utilised AutoCAD to design the product based upon the clients and engineers specifications.Lee left Paramount Steel to pursue a job opportunity with a Telford based design office, namely TDS Midlands Ltd.

Fairmile Fencing Ltd produced fencing systems for a variety of businesses. The range included temporary security fences for music festivals to bespoke architectural fencing systems for residential properties. Lee worked in the computer aided design office and was responsible for the design and detailing of all of the product range. The utilisation of AutoCAD and AutoSketch enabled him to design the product based upon the engineers and clients specifications.Lee was head hunted by another specialist fencing company who offered a better remuneration and career opportunity.
