Lee Duffield is an Australian academic and journalist. In journalism he worked for over 20 years, mostly with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC); his roles included, first news editor on the Triple-Jay youth network, and European Correspondent at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. He was Deputy Director of Ministerial Media during the term of the Goss government in Queensland, 1992-96, and for a short time the Public Affairs Officer at the Australian High Commission in New Zealand.In universities since 1997, Lee Duffield was a lecturer at James Cook University and the Queensland University of Technology. He developed a program of reporting field trips, for Journalism students to work as correspondents on campus-based media; he has published extensively, including three books, across a broad field: media in Europe, developments in new media, pedagogy of journalism, and development journalism concentrated on the Asia-Pacific region. He has become engaged in debates over university governance, serving for four years as a member of the QUT Council and the University Academic Board.
