I’ve been blessed to have had success in a long and remarkably diverse career in engineering, project management, communications, government affairs and global business development. That experience included both the sale and execution of $Bs energy projects in the U.S. and around the world. Most rewarding is that the highlight of all of that came late in my career when in 2011, at age 63, I became acquainted with 8 Rivers Capital and the technology they invented called NET Power, a completely unique, zero emissions process for producing electricity from natural gas on a mega-scale with nearly 100% ‘inherent’ carbon capture (i.e.: no post combustion processing required). Shortly thereafter, I raised the first $50M to enable NET Power, LLC to get on its feet; advance design validation and perform the first series of scale tests for the turbine’s combustor. Two years later I raised substantially more than that to fund entirely the construction of a 50Mwt demonstration plant in LaPorte TX that has proved conclusively the viability of the technology and continues to this day to support its commercialization. I then served on NET Power’s Board from 2014 until the company went public in June of 2023 and under the leadership of Danny Rice and a new Board. Throughout, the best parts were the amazing and exciting people with whom I got to work, whom I had the honor to lead and from whom I learned so much.
