This position sees me investigating delays attributed to the Hitachi Class 800 train fleet by Network Rail, on behalf of Hitachi and Great Western Railway.I am the first point of contact between HRE and GWR with regards attributing the delays correctly using many railway reporting tools (P2, TRUST, Intergrale, etc) to investigate delays to ascertain root cause. My investigation into delays attributed to Hitachi Rail involves managing SAP data, maintaining data quality in updating an online database and using my knowledge of railway rolling stock to instigate investigations and ask for further work to be carried out across the depots during daily conference calls. The output of my role’s work inputs directly into the Train Services Agreement (TSA) contract which enables payment to GWR for delays attributed to Hitachi root causes.In my role I communicate with senior management teams and depot staff for further fault diagnosis and communicate work done to enable correct understanding of failures and faults. As the key interface between GWR and Hitachi I am tasked with developing and maintaining an active two way communication process as per the TSA contract. By maintaining a good working relationship with cross industry partners, we are better able to achieve a positive outcome for both parties with regards performance improvements of the trains.My role has me in contact with the Central Planning Cell to alter and direct the future work load of the depots if fault investigations need to take place on the depot. I investigate and question defects that occur on the trains in an operational day and measure defects against KPI’s that Hitachi are culpable against in the TSA contract ensuring compliance to industry standards. Part of this role includes training of other engineering colleagues and offering ongoing support as required. Reporting the company Fleet Performance data to ATOC (now known as Rail Delivery Group) every period has led me to a strong understanding of Delay Attribution and the 20 Point Plan.I was responsible for developing systems of performance reporting using fleet reliability data that demonstrate daily, weekly and periodically fleet reliability, fleet availability, failure data and trend analysis to the senior management team and colleagues across the business both internally and externally.This role enabled me to demonstrate reliability and failure trend analysis across the various fleets in GWR and identify performance improvement opportunities to senior management and depot engineering teams.This involved developing the GWR performance monitoring systems to give maximum benefit to the fleet management team.
