The MOD were targeted with significant mortar ammunition budget cuts and pass rate improvement measures, to enhance operational effectiveness of the British Army. The current course pass rate was 50% which was deemed unacceptable, requiring immediate improvements. As senior project manager, I engaged with the senior stake holders. I prepared a robust Business Case which was approved, thereby enabling me to implement simulation environments into the current training exercises, which would be utilised as a prerequisite to using live ammunition. Within 12 months of taking on the senior project manager role, the course first time pass rate improved significantly by an additional 25%. This in turn positively impacted the finances and saw allocated budget costs significantly reduced by up to 50% of overall Armed Forces' mortar ammunition costs. As a result, I was awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal at the Queen's birthday honours and awards, in recognition of maintaining and improving projects within defined budgets and timescales. Significant achievements within the role included:Acted as a key advisor to senior industry project managers to shape user requirements of future indirect fire platforms on the MOD Boxer progaramme.Prepared individuals for future operational and military deployments, demonstrating excellence in project management.Delivered highest standard of “risk to life” training through effective risk assessment and mitigation.Facilitated change management during covid to ensure training could continue safely and to government guidelines.

The MOD initiated an arms plot move, directing the Mission ready training team that facilititates the pre deployment training of 500+ personnel. The requirement was to refurbish an old mothballed RAF base that was currently unfit to occupy. The budget allocated was £25M of a bigger £40M project (project Hercules) and timescales required for full refurbishment was 12 months. I liased with senior key stakeholders to prioritise work to meet the senior leaderships vision of bringing the site back up to standards, and regulations expected of a modern military base. This included infrastructure setup of vehicle workshops, high security weapon storage facilities, catering facilities, a gym and accommodation, whilst ensuring and maintaining strict compliance with current health and safety requirements. I formulated comprehensive risk management plans to ensure safety and security of all personnel during pre-deployment training. This resulted in a promotion mid role for my achievements in bringing this project in on time and on budget even with some significant scope creep, highlights included: Leading cross-functional teams, consistently delivering projects on time, within budget, and adhering to specified scope requirements. Conducted regular project reviews, providing senior management with crucial insights, and delivering project status reports.

Due to a reduction in personnel, the MOD required an overhaul of how it’s courses were delivered. Existing courses were set up to train higher numbers than initially required. As project manager, I oversaw the project management of the British Army's promotion-qualifying and capability-qualifying courses. I undertook and conducted a comprehensive gap analysis, employing tools such as Gantt charts. Success criteria required the British Army maintain a constant supply of course-qualified personnel, within allocated timlines and budgets. I achieved this by overseeing project timelines and leveraging strategic planning methodologies. Significant achievements within the role included:Identified critical pathways to guarantee timely and location-appropriate qualification of British Army personnel.Devised training objectives and crafted the current training package and assessment strategy for phase one and two infantry recruits. Results were courses were streamlined to better suit the needs of todays army resulting in an overall 10% budget reduction and less resources needed.
