I currently work in a 20 bed care home which supports male and females who have an acquired brain injury. My day to day tasks involve supporting service users whilst maintaining a high standard of respect and dignity at all times. Working closely with the therapy team to learn the service users programs, making sure that the service users rehabilitation programs are being completed daily, carrying out exercises handed over to me to ensure the progress of the service users rehabilitation. To make sure that the residents are able to attend hospital/doctor’s appointments and help them plan outings and activities. I am also responsible for updating care plans, writing risk assessments, planning activities and liaising with other professionals when required.

My role as support worker was to support male residents with mental health and a forensic background in a care home. My main duties as a Support Assistant were to assist residents in their daily needs. I was responsible for making sure patients have taken medication and are attending their appointments. I also arranged activities for the service users. Supporting residents to arrange their own activities whilst making sure they were free from harm or abuse.

My duties as a Learning Support Assistant included supporting students in their studies, Taking them out on travel training into the community. I helped students to complete practical tasks, take notes and provide help during breaks. I worked with students with a variety of learning difficulties/disabilities ageing from 14+. My role also involved assisting tutors in preparing teaching aids and equipment for lectures.
