The future will be defined by how we develop, deploy and utilize new technologies now. As a co-founder of Ember Flash Aerospace, Dr. Lee Kohlman is working to build a system for wildfire response and impact mitigation using a multilevel/multiscale approach for data collection and an AI based backbone for data management, analysis, interpretation, and distribution. By collecting more data with affordable, ubiquitous ground, sky, and space assets and using AI to abstract that data, we can mitigate the impacts and extent of climate change. Dr. Lee W. Kohlman co-founded Ember Flash Aerospace while also an Aerospace Research Engineer at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. His work at NASA focuses on electric and alternative fuel power systems for aircraft propulsion. He also previously worked at NASA's Ames and Langley Research Centers in Mountain View, CA and Hampton, VA. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Akron. His past research includes composite materials, superconductors, electric machines (both conventional and superconducting), hydrogen and liquid natural gas fuels for aircraft, aircraft conceptual design, urban air mobility network operations modeling, and passenger ride quality in small vertical lift vehicles. His hobbies include photography, electronics, and programming.
