I am a Visiting Researcher working on Cassava. My work focuses on: ex-ante supply value chain development, ex-ante evaluation of entering into production at the Individual Production Unit (IPU) level, economic support for the cassava pest and disease project team, and updating The International Model for Policy Analysis of Agricultural Commodities and Trade (IMPACT).

I conducted residential roof damage assessments, with an emphasis in damage related to severe weather events. I helped homeowners through the entire insurance process related to damage from severe weather events from filing a claim to final completion of repairs and payment. I started as a sales intern and was promoted to Specialist in under three months. I independently managed my own schedule, appointments, and generated sales producing $45,000+ in revenue. I unfortunately had to terminate my employment with this company because of difficulties associated with attending college in Lincoln and commuting to Omaha to work.

My main responsibilities included but were not limited to: generating sales reports, tracking agents production as a whole and in specific products over time, performing support sales ‘leg work’ in the home office to prepare employees for sales trips, cold calling, lead generation, market segmentation and, market discovery. After my year long internship a review meeting was held with my supervisors. At this meeting I was honest to my employer and told them that I did not see myself working in the life insurance industry in the future and gave them my notice of leave.

I grew up on a family owned 54 acre hobby farm just north of Kearney, Nebraska. I had worked on the farm my entire life growing up but was handed full responsibility of the day to day field operations in the summer of 2004. My responsibilities and duties on the farm changed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis depending upon unpredictable exogenous factors of production. The responsibilities that I performed most often include: daily irrigation responsibilities associated with a 'polish pivot' system, small repairs and maintenance to the irrigation lines, tractor, and power unit, weeding, spraying, fence repair, and other assorted farm labor as needed.
