Utilizing Business Analyst skills: collected requirements and data, performed analysis and presented reports to hospital senior leadership to justify expanding: Wound care marketing plans and territory based on changes in physician referral base. Multiple Tableau visualizations created utilizing four years of physician referrals, comparing regions of shrinking referrals against changes in population growth from census data, comparing physician practice movements across zip codes for patterns needed to adjust marketing activities.Success measured by: 9% increase of new patient referrals to outpatient wound centers.Wound care service line to include inpatient wound and ostomy care services, along with expanding physician panel to include nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Analysis utilizing Microsoft Excel of contracted ostomy service expenses and volumes; trends in inpatient referrals to the outpatient wound center, wound patients seen versus center capacity.Success measured by: Increase of inpatient referrals to outpatient wound center from less than 1% (4 patients) to 14% (71 patients) of new patient referrals within 5 years. Reimbursement for outpatient volumes seen by nurse practitioners and physician assistants covers salary costs for all providers plus midlevel supervision expenses.Service line to include a second comprehensive wound healing center. Analysis of population maps; referral patterns for the location to offer the best coverage and convenience for patient and physician referral base; capacity of center at current location.Success measured by: Same store growth metric increased from 10% to 17% during the first six months of two sites open to see patients.
