We work with all veterans / ex forces throughout Northumberland who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless including those sofa surfing, at risk of eviction or released as homeless from custody. We work with veterans to overcome personal challenges that might cause difficulty in maintaining their tenancy or applying for social housing and private rents in to local area. We also help our individuals to address their potentially complex issues. We support veterans to gain the confidence to resettle into society and feel part of the local community as well as avoid lapsing in to past negative behaviours such as reoffending, substance misuse and social isolation through attendance to partner agencies.We are funded by LIBOR to deliver this project in Northumberland until May 2020. We offer: • Access to veteran supported housing. • Access to specialist veteran support services. • Pre-tenancy course to improve access to social housing.• Support with complex needs and referral to specialist physical and mental health services. • 1-2-1 sessions with specialist veteran support workers.We help people to: • Develop confidence and personal self-esteem.• Understand the situations that have led them into homelessness and help them avoid them in future.• Gain supported housing or private tenancy and deliver continued support to maintain this housing. • Get the help and support required to address isolation and attend veterans events.• Access other services through support and signposting.
