W.J. Lee Owen ("Lee") is a civil defense trial attorney at Luks & Santaniello who practices in the areas of automobile and motorized vehicles, insurance coverage and premises liability matters.Lee is a St. Johns County native . He is a Menorcan of the Ponce family that came to St. JohnsCounty in 1777. Lee graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi School of Law ("Ole MissLaw") in 2018. At Ole Miss Law, Lee distinguished himself as member of the Trial Advocacy Board bybecoming a finalist in the Steen Dalehite & Pace Trial advocacy Board Fall Competition and winningthe American Board of Trial Advocates Federal Trial Practice Competition. While at Ole Miss Law, Leeserved in the Criminal Appeals Clinic where he argued a capital murder appeal before the MississippiCourt of Appeals.Lee started his legal career as an assistant state attorney in 2018. During his time as a prosecutor, hegained valuable trial experience in both county and circuit court. He served in St. Johns County, wherehe tried felony and misdemeanor cases. While he was a prosecutor, he served as the vice-president ofthe St. Johns County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division.Lee became a civil litigator in 2020. Prior to joining Luks & Santaniello , he worked for a well-knownboutique litigation firm in Jacksonville representing State Farm and their insured drivers in autoaccidents and premises liability cases. He also worked for a large civil defense firm, representing insured drivers and insurance companies like Geico, Liberty Mutual, and United Auto. He gained civil trial experience and worked on many autoaccident cases, honing his skills in depositions and mediation.During his free time, he enjoys giving back to the community, fishing, hunting, and spending time withhis wife and their golden retriever, Archie. Lee is a member of the Hastings Masonic Lodge #183, Vice Chair of Hastings Main Street Inc. , a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, and a board member of the Menorcan CulturalSociety of St. Augustine
