I am a research associate with more than 2 years of teaching experience in biotechnology-related undergraduate courses (Marine Biotechnology, Ecology and Biodiversity, Environmental Biotechnology, Introductory Biology, Plant Protection, Environment and Development in Malaysia) and 5 years of research experience in ecology and biodiversity. I am a PhD graduate in Ecology and Biodiversity course from University of Malaya, specialising in various monitoring approaches of mammals and insects. The experience and knowledge of diverse fieldwork and laboratory methods such as fieldwork sampling, molecular identification, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics analyses of eDNA were developed strongly within my PhD, with a focus on developing a new molecular approach - using mammal DNA derived from the guts of blowflies (a type of eDNA) as a proxy to monitor tropical mammals and field calibration of this new approach against other traditional monitoring approaches in tropical forests. I am very interested to broaden my experience through postdoctoral opportunities in ecology and conservation biology fields such as new monitoring approaches for conservation of ecology and biodiversity, and their interactions with other drivers of global climate change.
