Performs Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) configuration, systems integration, server/desktop support and network management. Performs engineering activities such as defines system requirements, develops technical solutions and performs systems functional analysis for exercise support. Performs configuration and troubleshooting of Network layer 2 and layer 3 devices.· Deploys worldwide to remote sites as the lead technician to install and maintain exercise LANs and interconnecting exercise facilities over WANs using long-haul communications systems.· Performs local administration of the Joint Training and Experimentation Network (JTEN), a persistent global network providing realistic joint training capability for combatant commands and services across the continental United States and abroad.· Maintains operational availability of the JTEN Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) inter-networking devices.· Executes network operations and management through continuous monitoring of JTEN connectivity and performance using network monitoring and troubleshooting applications (Solar winds).· Provides 24/7 on-call systems operational support and responds swiftly to resolve network outages and reported issues with end-user equipment.· Installs, configures, and maintains computer workstations, VOIP telephones, Video-Teleconferencing (VTC) sets and network printers.· Performs IP address and domain name administration, MS Exchange and Outlook administration.· Configures modeling and simulations applications on workstations and provides on-the-job training as required for military and government personnel.· Train and supervise IT personnel new hires, providing them insight into how to effectively troubleshoot equipment.· Maintains network security using cryptographic devices and configuration control over the network architecture and equipment in accordance with Dept. of Defense (DOD) directives and Information Assurance (IA) policies and procedures.
