Leaving University with a Designer Maker degree i pursued work within the furniture sector manufacturing Kitchens and furniture for Hyland Furniture in South London. Wanting to pursue more furniture than kitchens i managed to land a Furniture maker position at James Burleigh ltd just as they moved premises and started expanding the business. I have moved through many roles at James Burleigh ltd over the last 10+ years from manufacturing to creating in-house stock, production and automatic cutting list systems, investing time in lean manufacturing, R&D, reducing costs and improving business longevity by building relationships with suppliers, implementing quality control procedures, decreasing mistakes and improving packaging quality and sustainability credentials and creating and managing Health and Safety procedures. I am now mostly involved as a Procurement and Sustainability manager - dedicating my time to acquire transparency for purchasers of James Burleigh furniture by gaining accreditations in FSC®(forest stewardship council, FISP (Furniture industry sustainability Programme) having our products VOC emissions tested and creating many internal documents relating to transparency of materials, indoor health, Carbon, and providing clients and Architects with any information they may need to gain points and accreditations themselves for SKA, WELL, BREEAM and many other Health and Wellbeing accreditations.
