TWR and Arrows F1 team employed around 2000 employees. TWR specialised in the Design, Manufacture and Production of High Performance Motor Vehicles. Job position: Group CAD Systems ManagerDuties / Responsibilities :-I managed all IT related activity within Arrows F1 and TWR’s CAD operations. I was based at TWR’s purpose built Design and Manufacturing Technical Centre. TWR have carried out work for all of the major Automotive OEM’s. Some examples are the Jaguar XJ220, Aston Martin DB7, Volvo C70, Renault Clio Sport, SAAB 9-3, Etc.Virtual Reality Centre – European Automotive Competence Centre. I project managed the installation of TWR’s Virtual Reality Centre. This was a joint Venture between SGI and TWR. It allowed TWR to carry out Digital Mock-ups of a whole car programs. The immersive environment provided engineers with a touch and feel prototype without having to physically build one. Renault Directors approved the production of the Clio Sport V6 using an electronic prototype, thus reducing the product lifecycle significantly. We also crash tested this vehicle using math data in a virtual environment.Unix Systems.I managed a team of highly skilled IT professionals responsible for the Networking, Installation and management of TWR Group’s CAD systems. This was one of the largest cad installations in Europe. Included 100 IBM RS6000 Unix Workstations, 80 Silicon Graphics Unix Workstations, 25 HP’s and 7 Sun’s running a combination of CAD packages. E.g. Catia, ICEMSurf, Unigraphics, IDEAS, PDGS, Patran & Nastran, Adams, Fluent CFD, Alias.Data Management Software. I am familiar with VPM and Team Centre data management software.Windows Server and Networking.I have managed and installed Windows, Citrix and UNIX servers at various locations across the globe.Windows Desktop Systems.I started in this area and consider myself an expert in the configuring and networking of PC’s running all Microsoft OS from 8.1 – DOS.
