• Project was entitled “Characterization of Dioxepine Derivatives”• The objective was to generate three 3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[b][1,4]dioxepine structures and characterize the structures by analytical chemistry methodology• Used tosylate synthesis of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol to produce ditosylate• Reacted ditosylate and 4-Nitrocatecol were by Williamson synthesis to produce a seven-member ring dioxepine derivative.• Determined that further study is needed to facilitate the production of the seven-member ring for characterization.

• Project was entitled "Effiicacy of Progesteron Treatment on Behavioral PErformance up to 1-month and at 6-months in Juvenile Female Rats with TBI"• The objective was to determine the effects of TBI and progesterone on post-injury development and behavioral deficits in juvenile rats using the CCI injury model.• Female Sprague Dawley rats were given a CCI or SHAM injury at P28, treated with progesterone, and subjected to behavioral testing after the recovery period.• Rats were sacrificed by transcardiac perfusion for brain lesion analysis.

• Project was entitled “Characterization of Abnormal Nuclear Envelope Morphology changes upon T28D6.6 Knock-down in C. elegans Embryos”• Characterized nuclear changes upon down-regulation of T28D6.6 in C. elegans embryos• Generated a mutant strain of C. elegans with fluorescent labeled nuclear proteins and DNA• Down-regulated T28D6.6 in C. elegans was using RNAi for characterization• Used confocal microscopy to analyze nuclear envelope changes upon down-regulation of T28D6.6
