I joined Saba as the UK HR Director in January 2011. My role is pivotal to the business realising its ambition to empower frontline employees to add significant value to the business – critical when we have c.1000 and 90% are customer-facing. As a member of the Senior Management Team and Board of Directors, I have accountability for both the operational and strategic people activity within the UK including Health & Safety and Learning & Development. It is my role to create a robust People Strategy which is forward thinking and ensure we have a culture where our people are equipped and enabled to add real value to the business today and have the adaptability and resilience to fulfil the demands and needs of our stakeholders tomorrow. Leading a team of HR professionals, I manage the development and implementation of innovative HR policies, new working practices and modern organisation structures; Ensuring we have a flexible approach to L&D and self-improvement in order to support our diverse and talented workforce of c.1000 part-unionised employees, across 78 UK sites.A key achievement was Saba UK achieving the ‘Investors in People Core Award' in 2012, Investors in People Silver’ and 'Investors in Diversity' accreditations in 2013 and Investors in People Gold Accreditation in 2016 and again in December 2018.

I was accountable for the provision of HR services to 11 Academies across 15 UK sites, employing c.3000 employees. Delivering core business objectives through effective HR support and partnership with Academy Leadership Teams was paramount to ensure maximum organisational and individual Academy performance. A key project was the implementation of the largest UK Tupe transfer and merger of secondary schools undertaken in education in one period.Main responsibilities included:- Advice, support, coaching and mediation.- Analysing Academy staffing ratios with budgets and projected incomes to ensure budgets remained in line with government funding grants. - Leading on Tupe and change management projects for all schools transferring from Local Authority education sector to Academy Trust status often involving large scale re-structuring and redundancy consultation programmes.· Managing Trade Union relationships, consultation processes and negotiations at regional and national level.· Managing the recruitment & selection process, succession planning and leadership development programmes for Teachers and Support Staff.· Driving business KPI performance with Leadership Teams to improve business performance.

I had responsibility for the delivery of the stores People Plan through effective and robust HR practices and processes. Driving Store KPI performance improvements through coaching of Management Teams and supporting the implementation of key business objectives to improve overall business performance.Main responsibilities included:· Coaching & development of HR Teams to support the roll-out and delivery of the People Plan. · Management of learning & development activities with focus on leadership capability and operational skills.· Coach Managemnt Teams in the delivery of manpower planning initiatives, lead on succession planning and individual development programmes.- Manage assessment centres for both internal and external candidates.· Analysis of payroll spend v's budgets.- Management of Attendance Management processes, introducing improvement plans where required.

Responsible for driving stores succession planning, talent management and learning & development programmes. Main responsibilities included:· Leading the succession planning process with stretching targets to ensure a continued pipeline of talent.- Manage the implementation of recruitment & retention strategies across the group including assessment centres for internal and external candidates.· Drive management recruitment initiatives internally and externally.· Manage & facilitate the delivery of learning & development activities.· Lead on the implementation of revised processes, projects and streams of work to meet challenging business plan objectives.· Facilitate technical and behavioural coaching workshops and support the development of individual TNA and PDP's.
