Glyde Internet Services, LLC had an Internet accelerator product on the market called ThruView.com. At its peak, the service handled approximately 5000 daily user logins, and secured over 90,000 Web page requests per day in real-time. During its lifetime, the services processed over 10 million page requests for users in near-real-time.At its peak, the ThurView.com website achieved a high 7/10 Google ranking, making it, according to Google, a leading, “expert” website.Architecture Responsibilities:* Design and implement highly-transactional, heavy-use Web-based application.* Use an iterative “Agile” process, adding features and re-factoring code in iterations.* Design with well-known design patterns including Proxy, Factory, Abstract Factory, Flyweight, Singleton, Façade, among others. * Design and implement near-real-time parser/transformers for HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.* Create real-time parser/transformer for HTTP headers.* Design highly scalable, easy to scale system – “just add servers”* Design robust Web application able to handle over 90,000 heavy-process requests per day.Other Highlights * Internet-facing application sold directly to the public. Hardened against “hacker” attacks and usage abuse. * Rolled-out using Apache Tomcat 5.5. No application server used.* Highly available system with load balancing and server fail-over capabilities.* Parsed, secured, and transformed (dynamically re-wrote) all Web requests in near-real-time.* Integration of PayPal’s Instant Payment Notification (IPN) system allowing the application to accept credit card payments and provide access to services immediately.* Implemented Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) used to make all Web traffic between the client browser and the server secure.
