My work life has been varied and fulfilling. For many years I worked in the area of social justice as a canvasser, a lobbyist, and as a campaign director. At 35 I returned to school at San Francisco State University California for a teaching certification. Teaching for a couple of years in the Bay Area public school system. This multicultural teaching experience led me to move to Bolivia where I worked for a number of years as a teacher in an after-school enrichment program for children ages 3 to 16.In 2002 I co-founded Volunteer Bolivia, the first volunteer program of its kind in Cochabamba, Bolivia. For the next 20 years, we developed a cutting-edge volunteer program that combined language acquisition with cultural awareness. Working with numerous international universities, Volunteer Bolivia's staff designed and administered a number of short-term studies abroad programs. In 2020 I returned with my daughter to Syracuse, NY to help care for my parents. Change has been a constant theme in my life and its ebbs and flows have brought me to where I am today. One never knows what life will bring but at the present time, I am ushering my daughter into adulthood and searching for meaningful remote work that will allow me to continue spending time with my parents and continue advocating for social justice.
